DISCARDS

This series of paintings depicts discarded remains of previous artworks such as deformed wooden bricks from Jacaranda Brick bench (University of Pretoria campus), discarded wood carvings from the sculpture studio and wooden canvas stretchers.
The aim of the lager body of work in which these fit into, is to celebrate the mundane and unassuming material base of life and its artifacts and to explore the ability of paint to add value to the seemingly valueless.
